After graduating from Clemson University in 2006, Mary Katherine went to work in Greenville, SC. She spent 5 years working in advertising and marketing, and in 2011 she enrolled in the accelerated culinary arts program at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte. While at Johnson and Wales, she completed an internship under cookbook author Nathalie Dupree, in which she helped test recipes and edit the final stages of her James Beard award-winning masterwork, Mastering the Art of Southern Cooking, released in November 2012. She graduated summa cum laude in the Fall of 2012 and started a private chef company called Prep shortly thereafter. Her obsession with french macarons began when she challenged herself to master the difficult pastry after failing time and time again. Her friends and family raved over them...and Prep Confections was born.
